.rootless tree - i did love you. i loved you...

a talented friend of mine wrote a poem for me...about me..

she entitled it:

"Her Poem"

oh, I hate you
and that's how i know i loved you.
you hurt like a hurt i'd never know
until the day i loved you so.

did i take your hand and squeeze too tight?
did we plan too much for a life so bright?
Did we talk too long, too late in the night?

But that's how I know what once was real
For when he came he knew just what to steal
He took your heart so far from me
He took it too far and buried it too deep

Were you not strong enough to take my grip?
Was our future too heavy to hold on your hips?
Was your mind not strong enough to follow my lips?

But I truly hate you
and that's how i know loved you so
You hurt like a hurt I'd never know
Until i saw you letting me go

What was love?
Was love too much?
It wasn't your kiss, it wasn't your touch
those weren't enough to make me love you this much

It was simple, it was simply you
It was your simple loving me the way you do
But everything so present is now past
Because everything good can never last

So what is hate?
Is hate too strong?
Is it too much for a love so long
Is hate too much for everything wrong?

oh, I hate you
and that's how i know i loved you once
you hurt like a hurt i'd never know
until the day i loved you so.

until the day you let me go.
